Total Eye Exams By the Leading Eye Doctors in Kennesaw and Buford
Regardless of your age or physical health, it's important to have regular eye exams.
During a complete eye exam, your eye doctor will not only determine your prescription for eyeglasses and/or contact lenses but will also check your eyes for common eye diseases, assess how your eyes work together as a team and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.
A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures to examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision. These tests range from simple ones, like having you read an eye chart, to complex tests, such as using a high-powered lens to examine the health of the tissues inside of your eyes. We perform a visual field test on every patient, which checks your peripheral vision and can help us diagnose conditions like glaucoma, tumors, strokes, and brain swelling just to name a few. All of our eye doctors like to check the health of your eyes through either a dilated fundus examination or with the Optomap. With a dilated exam the doctor puts drops in your eyes to open up your pupils so they can examine the retina, which is the tissue in the back of your eyes. The other option is the Optomap, which is an instrument that takes a scan of your retina and allows the doctor to check the retina without having to put any drops in your eyes.
